First-Line Treatments
Propranolol(Inderal®) is the most commonly prescribed first-line treatment for essential tremor in Korea. Propranolol is a beta-blocker, which is a drug used primarily for treating high blood pressure, and it also mitigates tremor, especially in the hands. Common side effects include fatigue, dizziness, slower heart rate, etc.
**프리미돈(Primidone, Mysoline®)**은 프로프라놀롤 다음으로 자주 처방되는 약물입니다. 프로프라놀롤의 효과가 충분하지 않거나 사용하기 어려운 경우에 흔히 사용됩니다. 대표적인 부작용으로는 메스꺼움, 어지러움, 졸림 등이 있습니다.
First-Line Treatments
Topiramate(Topamax®) is an anti-seizure medication that may be prescribed when first-line medications do not provide sufficient tremor control.
Gabapentin(Neurontin®) is an anti-seizure medication. It may be less effective than first-line medication, but it still helps patients. Some side effects are weight loss, tingling sensation, etc.
